Agriculture in a Sicilian inland area: Strategies and motivations of conversion towards multifunctional activities

The main topic of the paper concerns multifunctional farms, their activities and motivations for starting up, and on the other hand visitor satisfaction. To this purpose, a preliminary sample survey was carried out addressed to 13 farms in 3 Sicilian provinces. The aim was to identify positive and negative aspects of the services offered. The most relevant findings of the survey are the variety of activities and services, a widespread use of internet services, efficient means of communications and a significant growth in labour force. The aim of this paper is to study relationships among "gauge integrals" (Henstock, Mc Shane, Birkhoff) and Pettis integral of multifunctions whose values are weakly compact and convex subsets of a general Banach space, not necessarily separable. For this purpose we prove the existence of variationally Henstock integrable selections for variationally Henstock integrable multifunctions. Using this and other known results concerning the existence of selections integrable in the same sense as the corresponding multifunctions, we obtain three decomposition theorems. We report a fast route enabling the multiscale design of nanohybrid structures comprising a 3D fibrous network of polycaprolactone (PCL) wrapped by graphene oxide (GO) sheets onto which carbon nanotube (CNT) brushes are anchored. The method relies on electrospinning PCL solutions onto a suspension of GO and CNTs in ethanol. Self-assembly is due to electrostatic wrapping of GO sheets around PCL fibers and 7C-7C stacking between GO and CNTs. Positive solutions for parametric singular Dirichlet (p,q)-equations

We consider a nonlinear elliptic Dirichlet problem driven by the (p,q)-Laplacian and a reaction consisting of a parametric singular term plus a Caratheodory perturbation f(z,x) which is (p-1)-linear as x goes to + infinity. First we prove a bifurcation-type theorem describing in an exact way the changes in the set of positive solutions as the parameter lambda>0 moves. Subsequently, we focus on the solution multifunction and prove its continuity properties. Finally we prove the existence of a smallest (minimal) solution u*_lambda and investigate the monotonicity and continuity properties of the map lambda --> u*_lambda.

On the origin of functionalization in one-pot radiation synthesis of nanogels from aqueous polymer solutions

Radiation-engineered poly(N-vinyl pyrrolidone) nanogels are very interesting biocompatible nanocarriers for i.v. administration of therapeutics and contrast agents for bioimaging. The manufacturing process is fast and effective, it grants excellent control of particle size and simultaneous sterilization of the formed nanogels. Interestingly, primary amino groups and carboxyl groups, useful for (bio)conjugation, are also formed in a dose-dependent fashion. Description of the limit set of Henstock–Kurzweil integral sums of vector-valued functions

Abstract Let f be a function defined on [ 0 , 1 ] and taking values in a Banach space X . We show that the limit set I HK ( f ) of Henstock–Kurzweil integral sums is non-empty and convex when the function f has an integrable majorant and X is separable. In the same setting we give a complete description of the limit set.

Integral properties of multifunctions determined by vector valued functions are presented. Such multifunctions quite often serve as examples and counterexamples. In particular it can be observed that the properties of being integrable in the sense of Bochner, McShane or Birkhoff can be transferred to the generated multifunction while Henstock integrability does not guarantee it.
